HTML creations

uhh man starting this assignment I thought I would never be able to create an HTML page. But with the easy to follow, step by step guidelines; it was a walk in the park. It was sort of tricky at first though but finally got the hang of it and published an HTML page.

Vanity Search: Do YOU do it?

The other day I was in the computer lab with a friend doing some math homework. I got my work done before he did, so i had a little bit of free time to play around on the computer. As I was browsing through the world wide web, I remembered a website my proffesor had talked about during class. It was called peekyou.com, a vanity search engine.

In class, we had discussed how EVERYONE, in one way or another is listed somewhere on the internet. One student argued that they are not on the internet in anyway, so they kindly volunteered to be searched on google. The proffesor searched the student's name and it came up! The student was in shock. He couldn't believe it.

The proffesor went on and continued the search, except this time he used peekyou.com. I was in amazement as the student's name came up and showed where he lived and who he was related to. The website even has an option were you can in a way "stalk" the vanity search.

In a way, no one in the world is completely anonymous (at least on the world wide web). It amazes me how easy it is to find someone on the internet. Now I look at it and think, the physical world as we know it has shrunk. Everyone knows everyone, creepy, huh?

Newspapers Going Online

Lately, there has been a fuss on how news papers have stopped coming on doors and now are showing up on computer screens. Most people are wondering what has happened to the world, to them, it seems like the world is changing for the worst and they do not like it one bit.

With more and more people going online everyday, I can't blame the news organizations for what they are doing now. The consumer now-a-days has no time to walk to the door the pick up the news paper when he/she can sit on the computer and get the news that much faster. I feel like the reason why people are more intuned to their computers and laptops is because of they're user friendly. THEY control what is on the screen at that moment, hence, they want to get the news faster and they want to interact with the news in one way or another.

To full-fill the interaction between the consumer and the news, the news papers that are read online include videos and blogs that the reader can comment on or share with others. This has become an important part of the online news papers business. The news paper we have come to know and love has officially evolved. The question is; Are you revolting against the new change or are you sticking to the old ways, you might just be left behind.

Differences and Similarities of Email and Post Office mail.

Today we are going to discuss some of the differences and similarities of Email and the Post Office.

The post office has been around for over 230 years. During the early start of the government based company, the was little to no competition. People communicated using the USPS for many years, that was the most basic way to reach family and friends without spending more that 20cents. Then came the internet in the late '60s to early '70s. By this time technology was looked at as a luxury, something only the smart and rich owned. With the internet, electronic mail (email) was invented. It connected people easier than ever before. It created a threat to the old postal service way of communicating.

Differences: Some of the differences between the postal service and email are; the speed. Email is a lot faster and more efficient. People can communicate through email in a matter of seconds while the postal service can take up to five days. Another difference between email and the postal service is writing. With email, you do not get to see the sender's handwriting; rather you see their choice of font or graphics. Lastly, the postal service has an adress they deliver to no matter what the recipient's name is. In otherwords, if your name is on a letter sent to your neighbor's address, the neighbor receives the mail no matter what. However, email does not have that feature. You have to correctly use the recipient's email adress or else the mail will not be sent, it will sent it back to you as an error.

Similarities: Some of the similarities of email and the postal service is the greeting. When email was first invented, it did not include such things like greeting cards like the postal service did. Now greeting cards can be sent via email. They too can come and usually come with sounds and songs.
